As we closed out the final quarter of 2020, the Film & Television category on Android in Brazil saw notable performances from leading apps. Here's a snapshot of how these apps fared, with data courtesy of Sensor Tower.
Globoplay: Assista ao BBB 24! experienced a decrease in downloads from 245K in the last week of September to 142K in the final week of December. The app's revenue also showed a downward trend, dropping from $350K to $139K in the same period. However, weekly active users peaked at 4.97M in the third week of December before ending the quarter at 4.74M.
For Disney+, the app's downloads spiked to an impressive 3.59M in mid-November, coinciding with its launch, and later stabilized to over 1M by the year's end. Despite a brief dip in revenue to $0 in early November, it quickly rebounded, reaching $124K by the last week of December, while active users grew to 2.79M.
Crunchyroll saw consistent revenue throughout the quarter, hovering around the $30K mark each week. Downloads peaked at 177K in early December and ended the quarter with 173K. The app's active users showed an upward trend, starting at 706K and growing to over 1M by the end of December.
HBO GO ® Filmes e séries originais. showed a steady revenue ranging from $24K to $35K throughout the quarter. Downloads saw an overall increase, from 36K in late September to over 50K in the final week of 2020. Active users saw a slight decline, starting at 232K and dropping to 230K by the year's end.
Lastly, Viki: Asian Dramas & Movies maintained a steady revenue, ending the quarter at $19K from $15K at the start. Downloads surged to over 34K in the last week of December from 12K in late September. The app also witnessed a significant increase in active users from 207K to 319K over the quarter.
